A birder's paradise

Since 1824, neighbors and visitors have delighted in Copake's scenic valleys, lakes and streams. This picturesque hamlet's beauty is enhanced by the Berkshire Mountains to the east and Catskills to the west.

To enjoy this town's natural splendor, visitors may partake in swimming and camping at Taconic State Park. A stroll on the Harlem Valley Rail Trail is a must for naturalistic aesthetics. This converted rail bed of the Harlem Valley line of the New York Central Railroad runs from Copake Falls to Wassaic. Fantastic views of the Catskills are available for the golfers in the family at the Undermountain Golf Course or the Copake Country Club.

Winter in Copake allows guests a chance to downhill ski and snowboard at Catamount Ski Area and Catamount's Adventure Park offers zip lines in their aerial forest. Snowshoe or cross-country ski at the Taconic State Park, or ice skate at nearby Lake Taghkanic State Park.

Nearby are many good dining and food options

Maybe you're interested in an antique bicycle? The Copake Auction House is just the place for your decorative and rarity needs. It specialized in Americana sales and is famous for its Bicycle Auction in April and Textile Auction in June.
